March 2010
Dear Church Family,

I am so thankful for the many blessings that our church family experienced during February. Of particular note was the week-of-prayer as various members of our congregation led out. We began the weekend before with a special guest speaker, Dr. Bill Knott, editor of The Adventist Review and Adventist World, whose message we have circulated to many former and inactive members, a number of whom have shared with me that they would like to come back to church. And then the next Sabbath Elder Maurice Valentine shared a message about the need for all of us as church members, following the example of Nehemiah, that we each have an opportunity to get involved.

Other highlights during February included the Adventurer appreciation night (and their as of this point forthcoming Adventurer Sabbath), and watching our Pathfinders learn new honors—such as the dog honor, Christian grooming, among other things. What a blessing our young people are to our congregation! In addition, we have two groups of young people and two adult groups who lead out in praise teams with our new worship service. So far I have heard overwhelmingly positive feedback that our congregation has been really blessed by the hard work of our worship and music committee and rolled out a new worship service format this past month, too.

During March we have a number of special events planned to help you grow in your spiritual walk with the Lord: on March 6 Tavia Wilson will be preaching a message about community involvement, then on the remaining Sabbaths (March 13, 20, 27) Pastor Campbell will begin a new series on “The Peacemaking Church.” Conflict is inevitable within human relationships, but a sign of health is how conflict is resolved. This series will help to set forth some biblical principles for how to do this. Please stay tuned for more details.

One of my goals this year is to identify clearly the direction that our church is headed: each year for the past three years we have done a Natural Church Development (NCD) survey and last fall we began a process with our church board to examine this process. During March and April we will be continuing this focus by identifying our priorities as a church and what our core values are as we move forward as a congregation. Please stay tuned for more details. I believe that the Lord wants us to be very intentional about this—if for no other reason than the fact that the Lord has commissioned each of us as a part of His church to spread the gospel to the world!

Last but not least, during February we were able to reactivate the Montrose Christian Broadcasting Association with new board members from Delta and Cedaredge, and David Lehman is our new association board chair. On Friday, February 26, 2010, the Association submitted an application for a 50 kW radio frequency so we are praying that this application will go through so that we can broadcast the Adventist message 24-hours a day, 7-days a week across the western slope. Please keep this process in your prayers.

May the presence of Jesus fill your life each and every day and transform each of us into “more loving and lovable Christians” is my prayer for our church family.

God Bless,
Michael W. Campbell
Pastor
