WORSHIP THIS SABBATH WITH ELDER NELSON
This Sabbath we are in for a treat as we have Eric Nelson, our vice-president for administration at the Rocky Mountain Conference, share with us from John 14:1-3 in a message entitled "Behold, I Come Quickly." Don't forget to stick around after church for our summer potluck in the park.

FUNERAL FOR LORI MILLER
Our hearts go out to the family of Michael Miller whose Mom tragically died this past Sunday. A funeral service will be held tomorrow (Friday) at 2 p.m. As a church family we offer our condolences to Michael and his relatives during this time of loss. Michael specifically asked that he would appreciate any church members who would like to come and show their support to please come, and I know he would especially appreciate a big hug right now!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
We have been having a lot of fun at Vacation Bible School this week. We finished up our day time meetings today and we conclude tomorrow evening at 6:15 p.m. The theme is "Back to Bible Times." I know Sharon Holbrook and the rest of her team have invested a lot of work to make this a time for our children to come to know Jesus better. If you have children or know of some who would like to participate please contact Sharon at 901-8333 orhockemom2@aol.com.

CHURCH CAMPING TRIP
Sign-up sheets are now available in the church for the beginning of an annual church camping trip. A limited number of whitewater rafting spaces are available. Camp sites are $12 per night (for a family); white water rafting is $70 for the Sunday trip. The theme for our camping trip is origins. Dr. Timothy Standish from the Geoscience Research Institute is going to be our speaker.

LIST OF HOTELS FOR CHURCH CAMPOUT
I've now formulated a list of area hotels for those who don't want to "rough it" by camping. The closest hotel on the way up is in the city of Rangely. It is Rangely Inn (970) 675-8461 (estimate $90 a night). There is a wider selection of hotels in Vernal, Utah, about 20 minutes west of Dinosaur National Park.

San Juan Motel (435) 789-9020 ($75-85)
Motel 6 (435) 789-0723 ($74-95)
Super 8 (435) 789-4326 ($110)
Best Western (435) 789-1202 ($120-140)
Holiday Inn Express (435) 789-4654 ($130-150)

PASTOR'S BLOG
If you ever want to feel a lot of energy then you need to attend our Vacation Bible School. Each day we've been having from 30-35 kids come to learn more about Jesus. The theme is "back to Bible times" so we have dressed up in Biblical costume. Each day I've gotten the opportunity to tell Bible stories, and then afterward, teach the kids how to write Hebrew. We had 15 minutes to tell the story. The scripts I was given were about two minutes long. So I get to do a lot of improv! I have enjoyed each day, but I have to admit that at my old age it takes a lot of energy out of you! ;)

Have you been up to the Black Canyon recently? I want to hike down to the bottom some time soon. The wildflowers up there are beautiful right now. I can't believe the transformation because it wasn't very long ago that there were deep drifts of snow that we were snowshoeing on. Some of the lupine are so fragrant that you can smell them as you walk along the trail. It is interesting because each of us smell. No, I'm not talking about the kind of deodorant that you wear. Each of us leave a spiritual scent. The Bible says in 2 Cor. 2:14 (NASB), "But thanks be to God who always leads us in His triumph in Christ and manifests through us the fragrance of the knowledge of Him." People can "smell" when we are spiritually alive in Jesus Christ.

I had an interesting experience this past week going out with our Bible worker, Jon Gardner. A man invited us into his home and we listened for a few minutes about his life story. We then had a season of prayer where we prayed specifically for him. He called me yesterday so appreciative of our taking the time to pray with him. He asked when we have church and that he would like to attend our church this coming Sabbath.
