Update from Pastor Campbell

Dear Church family,

This is just a quick note that I am starting to get back to "blogging" and sending each of you my regular e-mails. As most of you know by now, David William Campbell, arrived on April 14. He weighed in at 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and measured 19 1/2 inches. We're so pleased that both Mommy and baby are doing well. At church I mentioned that Heidi was quite ill, but she is doing much better now. In fact, she felt well enough to go out with Emma to do some grocery shopping while I watch David at home (he is sleeping) and do some sermon preparation as well as get ready for this evening.

I want to draw your attention to our prayer meeting series on "Walking with Ellen White" through the Testimonies. I am pleased that we are going through volume six. Tonight we are going to discus "Speaking the Truth in Love" (6T 120-123) and "The Haskell Home for Orphans" (6T 281-287). While it is not required that you read these two, short readings it will certainly mean more to you if you are able to. Regardless, I hope you will come and join us. One of the highlights for me at prayer meetings is to do what the name implies: pray. We have great needs, especially spiritual needs, and together we can come together and pray for one another.

This morning I had a providential encounter: while waiting for a mentor to call I received another phone call on my church office phone. The person had dialed the wrong number. Before he hung up he asked, who are you again? what church are you the pastor of? I told him who I was. He then paused. My grandfather was an Adventist minister. Now at the age of 92 he is dying of cancer. We talked for about five minutes about his life and I had prayer with him. As we got ready to say good bye he invited me to come see him and in amazement asked rhetorically, "I wonder why it was that I dialed this number today. I needed to talk to you." Every day we have opportunities, even with a person who dials the wrong number, to share Jesus with them.

Yesterday I was on my way into the hospital when lo and behind, Helen Leonard and Irene Holden were on their way out. Actually, Helen is still in the hospital recuperating from a broken hip, but she is hoping to go home by the end of this week (they were going "home" for a visit with a nurse in preparation for more therapy at home). Would you please pray for Helen as she recuperates? If you get a chance I am sure she would love a phone call or a card.
